I just responded to an offer from audible.com to get a free 2 GB iPod Nano by upgrading to audible platinum. I already had an audible platinum subscription and I was planning to renew it anyway, but I was waiting until my original subscription ran out; I didn't know you could renew with a subscription still running.

The scary thing was that it charged my credit card on file immediately after I clicked the "Get Started" button. I was pretty much expecting either to be asked to confirm my order, or to be told I wasn't eligible because I already had the relevant membership. No reminder to enter my password, nothing.

So, here's a heads-up and a warning. (You can get a 1 GB Nano by subscribing to Gold for 12 months, and a Shuffle by subscribing to Gold for 6 months.)

I checked for a similar offer for new subscribers, but didn't find one. Do you have any clues? Alternatively, is there a way for you to get a referral credit?

I'll have to ponder this. Do they state a time limit?
