I took a political quiz that I saw referenced in the journal of [livejournal.com profile] mactavish.

Pretty good quiz, although I really wanted the option of a response that said "this is none of my business so I don't have an opinion". For example: "We'd be better off if companies simply told the truth, rather than spending a fortune on manipulative consumer advertising." Well, sure. But that isn't a political opinion to me, because despite my hatred of advertising, I don't think it should be banned.

I came out Economic Left/Right: 1.63 (slightly to the right)
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.86 (quite libertarian)

And we need either about 4000 well-worded answers to each question, or else just open text boxes so that we can explain how we feel -- and that's not quantifiable.

I wish there were a meaningful way to check this out, that actually made people think.

Is there any use to knowing where on the grid I fit?

I got it from Drizzle, and some of the people there said it looked suspiciously like a quiz they'd seen before that was slanted to make sure you came out libertarian. I didn't think it was quite that bad, but they could have done better.

I don't know what the use is. I guess these things amuse me because I know what I think I think and want to find out what they think I think.
