Inspired by a friend's (locked) post:

What is the weirdest thing you regularly carry in your purse/pockets/fanny pack/backpack/whatever you usually carry?

Two chopstick rests

Coolness!

I went and grabbed my bag to ascertain its weirdness quotient. Guess the weirdest thing in there is probably a chapbook of poetry from one of the worst poets I've ever heard read.

When I saw him read, he was creepy in the extreme. I had been begged by the manager to come read at this reading because *he* was creeped out by the guy and the only other person who had signed up (the other person was as creepy -- did poems about the Black experience by speaking as Harriet Tubman or other Black heroes -- this from a middle-aged white man).

The one whose chapbook I have, though -- His poems were thinly veiled jerk-offs about how he'd love to fuck a powerful woman. He kept hinting that he wanted me to buy his chapbook, and I didn't. When the reading was over, he asked if he could hug me, and I said, as sweetly as I could, "Oh, no thank you." He was surprised and stepped back, but to his credit he said "Oh, okay, I can respect that."

Next time I went into the cafe, the manager, who knows me, handed me the chapbook and said the guy had left it for me. *shudder* To be honest, I didn't know it was still in my purse until this post. :-)
