goodreads vs. librarything

When I posted here that I had joined the librarything cult, someone invited me to join goodreads also and then several people added me there. (I'm 'firecat' on both sites.)

I've been using both of them, but I find goodreads much harder to use (mainly because there's no batch editing feature, which librarything has). If you have used both, can you tell me why you prefer one over the other?

i am putting all my books in librarything, and then i will do a mass import to goodreads, which i will then not do any editing on.

And won't you have to enter new books separately? My database on my computer is working fine so far.

I'm not kalmn but I like the community aspect of an online book-cataloguing system. Often when I finish a book I enjoyed I want to talk about it and not that many of my friends and acquaintances might have read it.

I really like the way the book entries show how many conversations have happened on a book (and links to them), and one can click to see conversations about "My Books" (all the books in one's library). If new comments come in about one's books, or on conversations one has starred for one reason or another, one can see them and go to them.

I mostly read SF and since most of my friends are fans, discussion is not a problem for me. I was just curious because kalmn had moved all existing books over en masse, but would still need to enter new ones twice.
