firecat: bag of popcorn and movie reel (movies)

Despite my general dislike of Tim Burton movies, I enjoyed it a great deal. The "Pretty Women" duet featuring Rickman and Depp was worth the $10.25 price of admission all by itself, simply because they looked like they were having such a tremendous amount of fun doing it. And OK, bestubbled Rickman lying back in a barber's chair is just really hot, and also funny, because I can just imagine him thinking "Thank Ghu I'm out of that dreadful stuffy Snape costume for once!"

Stef's capsule review of Sweeney Todd: "I was surprised there was no credit for 'Blood Choreographer.'"

I am not seeing this because of the aforementioned need for a "blood choreographer". (A review I heard on the radio said "prepare for a lot of arterial spray". Ugh - one of my squicks.)

Neither Depp nor Bonham Carter can sing, but, from what I hear, they do an adequate job, and this is not about virtuoso singing.

I do not understand the lockstep condemnation of Helena B-C - since "Fight Club", I have always really liked her. She was quite good in one of the Harry Potter movies, too. And I think she's hot.

I have never been able to distinguish the details of this movie/play, neither of which I have seen, from those of Little Shop of Horrors, which I have also not seen. Both are about professionals whose jobs involve standing over a client who sits in a chair, who then do bad things to them, and then break into song about it. :) I can never remember whether Sweeney Todd is a barber or a dentist. I can never remember which one has the giant flesh-eating plant in the basement, and which one involves meat pies made out of serial-killer victims. And I hope never to know either of them well enough to find out.

BTW...

Little Shop of Horrors is actually a humorous movie rather than a scary one.
