It's very good at what it is, and lousy at being anything else.

It's aimed at experienced, not beginner knitters - this is one of the reasons I bought it almost the instant I saw it - I am sick of flicking through knitting books that are all aimed at beginners.

It's trying to be a comprehensive reference, so it can't devote much space to each thing, and you may have to research further, or find a book that specialises in that subject area. It isn't comprehensive, because gosh darn it, knitters keep inventing new stuff (it's somewhat old by now). But this is a better book for encouraging you to think like a knitter who invents new stuff than most. (I think Unexpected knitting is better, if you're not completely intimidated by it.)
