In the afternoon, I finished American Gods (toward the end there is a Fourth of July reference).

My partner and I watched Tora! Tora! Tora!

Ever since the movie Pearl Harbor came out and was declared by people who ought to know to be an inaccurate rah-rah-US love story, I have been wanting to watch a movie about what actually happened at Pearl Harbor. We were told by people who ought to know that Tora! Tora! Tora! was the most historically accurate such movie.

It's really two movies interwoven into one: a movie about the Japanese side of things, shot in Japanese with Japanese actors and director, and a movie about the American side of things shot by an American director.

Well, needless to say there were a lot of explosions and bombs dropping and airplanes buzzing in the movie. And immediately after we finished watching the movie, the municipal fireworks started, and so I continued to hear explosions and "bomb-dropping" sounds. We live near a small airport so I also kept hearing planes buzzing around.

It was very creepy, but appropriate.
