I think they were trying for "young and trendy," but they wound up with "maybe your mother should still be dressing you." Not to mention that the camera angle (I hope it's the camera angle) makes her head appear to be way outsized for her body...
Classic attempt to mix styles that fails completely. The sweater is pastel eyelet, both the wrong color and too dressy to go over a casual bold-striped top. It might have worked with a plain white top, but this has a definite "I dressed in the dark" look to it.
I decided I liked it after seeing the photo where it's on a hanger. "Like it" = "I think that shape of garment would look good on me/be easy for me to alter to fit my shape."
The angry baby in that issue cracked me up. I started imagining their whole life people thought they were mad, when they looked pissed off, while actually being sublimely happy.
I kind of resemble that. Not that I'm sublimely happy, but I'm usually neutral and my face relaxes into an expression a lot of people read as "pissed off."
Yah, when I saw that sweater, I thought "hey, it looks kind of cute...but what the hell is with that terrible checkered thing?" It's such a strange pairing...
