My dad is investigating retirement communities for active seniors. If you have any experience with the various kinds, or if you recommend or dis-recommend any such communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would love to know what you have to say.

If you haven't read this, do. It's a wapo article about a bunch of retirement communities that were/are effectively scams to enrich the developer. Even if places he's looking at aren't from this guy, the need to check the financials remains strong.
