Wow, very nice job! Also, I am dying of yard envy even more than usual. I'd be envious anyway, but now I'm additionally envious because everything in the pictures is actually green -- as opposed to dead and dying in the horrendous drought where I live. Sob.

It's a seriously cool yard. Of course in California there's no rain in the summer so all the greenness is maintained by watering. I hope your drought ends soon.

How long was it your folks' house? Did you grow up there any?

They moved to California in 1998, so a little more than 10 years. I didn't grow up there. We lived in four different places when I was growing up so there's no single place I have childhood memories attached to. I sometimes stalk the addresses on Google Maps though. :)

I wondered because i had no idea how manu memories would be going with the sale. Transitions are hard, but i am thankful i moved around a good bit as a kid because i learned about change and transitions that way.

Strangely, my mom was a Navy brat, and she found the moving around much more traumatic as a child.

I guess Navy brats often get yanked out of school in the middle of the school year? I can see where that might be traumatic. Did that happen to you too?

No, my folks always managed to let us finish out school years. Sometimes my dad would move before the rest of us so he could start work.

I hope your dad's house sells quickly. Ah, if i were ready to begin earning equity: it looks lovely!

I've never heard of this activity as "staging". I just love real estate lingo.

Those California prices sure are freaky! Sitting over here in a northeast backwater I almost choked when I saw the amount.

"staging": taking out all the owner's furniture and decorations and replacing them with other furniture and decorations.

And the prices, yeah, it's like living in an alternate universe.
