I finally got to watch The Avengers. I liked it, but I wasn't blown away. Maybe partly because I have never read any of the relevant comics.

So I invite those of you who had strong feelings about it to talk about what you loved/hated about it.

Also, where's the best fanfic? :)

(If I were writing Avengers fanfic, I would write it about Loki and one or more of his doubles.)

I thought it was awesome fun, and pretty much devoid of deep meaning, but they managed to pack enough quips and action that I didn't care.

Loved the "Loki tries to take over Tony and it doesn't work" scene. Wasn't sure I liked the Steve/Tony/Thor banging around in the woods scene; it seemed too contrived--like, wasn't it convenient that nobody got really hurt?

I have more thoughts but nothing coherent right now; mostly wanted to drop fic recs at you.

Not that there's not plenty of *other* awesome avengers fic, but you can start there. (Amalthia tends towards longer fics, and there's a lot of awesome short fics as well.) Here's two I love:

Some people are tagging Avengers fic with "OT8." There's a fanon consensus that the Stark tower should be renamed "the Stark orgy fest extravaganza hub."

Loved the "Loki tries to take over Tony and it doesn't work" scene.

That was lovely! (Especially the way he tries it again, with this puzzled-disappointed look on his face.)
