This reminds me of one of Piet Hein's short poems, of the type he called a grook (Danish gruk, said to be a portmanteau of grin 'smile' and suk 'sigh'). I have many of the small English paperbacks. This is downloaded from http://www.geocities.ws/entercarp/poetry/grooks/grooks.htm .


GETTING DOWN TO FUNDAMENTALS

It will steadily shrink,
our earthly abode,
until antipode stands
upon antipode.

Then, soles together,
the planet gone,
