When cats get their own seat at the U.N., business leaders will start taking them seriously. Heck, when they start spending money directly instead of having their humans buy everything for them . . .
And yeah, that surprises me a little too. I'm not as thrilled with some of Moon's other stuff, but I haven't read much fantasy that's better than the Paks stories, and there's just no other gaming fiction that comes close.

They're working on this. That's what those "cat entertainment videos" are all about. They are secretly tracking cats' responses to this so they can target them more effectively with commercials. Can you imagine all the people who'd flock to buy something that Kitty pawed at on the screen?
Yep on Moon. And speaking of obscure interests, what is "whales following me"?
Ah, you're the first to notice that. One of the interest items that I don't expect I will ever share with anyone else unless they intentionally copy it from me. It actually comes from the same trip (to Indonesia) that wind over water and borobudur do. Probably the most spiritually intense two weeks in my life. In this case, in the lagoon of Komodo Island (yep, of dragon fame), whales followed our zodiac around for half an hour . . . the first ten minutes of which we in the raft didn't notice them! They were apparently just curious . . . but we first noticed them while I was in the water, trying (unsuccessfully) to waterski from the raft, and I noticed my raftmates pointing to the huge area of turbulent water about 50 yards from me. Which I first assumed was from sharks . . . they were close enough that, had I been able to see them through the water, I could have swum over and touched them, but I couldn't keep track of them between surfacings. Needless to say, I gave up on waterskiing at that point!
When I was in Hawaii many years ago, I went on a snorkeling trip and some dolphins followed our boat. But I was too seasick to enjoy watching them for very long. :-(
What was spiritually intense about the trip? the whales? did you take the trip looking for something spiritually intense, or did it just happen?
(Please ignore curious kitty if curiosity becomes excessive nosiness.)
The spirituality of the trip was unexpected and unplanned for. It was a gift. The whales were part of it. I'm not sure how to explain the whole thing without a lot of words. Umm, I'll post something in MY journal soon rather than taking up lotsa room in yours! k? =) But, generally speaking, nosiness is welcome. I'm a bit of an exhibitionist, after all . . . ;D
I'm a big fan of the Paks trilogy. I like Moon's other stuff as well. Just didn't think to put it in my interest list. There's a lot of stuff that didn't get in actually.
I'm still putting together my list, and as I've got less than 50 entries left, I'm faced with what to leave out myself . . . especially since I keep thinking of new things, and I don't want to kick anything out to make space for something better . . . if my interests actually change, fine.
