I am not a helpless chained naked virgin who is going to be eaten by the dragon; I am a sexually mature feline-type-dragon who has chosen to live with the dragon. So trying to save me from the dragon is not the right move.

Most white knights eventually notice the his and hers towels amid the rotting carcasses of cattle and previous knights, not to mention the distinctly feminine flair to the cave's interior decorating. I sometimes puzzle as to why the damsel took up residence with the dragon. But I have learned that in such matters, sometimes neither the dragon nor the damsel know exactly why, and any prospective knight with maturity beyond adolescence, understands you can only dig so deep in such matters as there is an element of sheer randomness involved.

Rethinking Randomness

I second thought, after reading your "bitch" post, i realize your romance with the dragon *isn't* random. People are often inclined to fall for people that have something they lack. For example, I have reason and rationality out the yin-yang, but lack passion. I tend to get attracted to women who have passion and are on friendlier terms with thier emotions than I am. You feel you are too "nice" to the point where people walk on you and you make yourself uncomfortable, so you take up with a grouchy, firebreathing dragon in hopes that some of it will rub off, and as a last resort, the dragon will be the "bad cop" when you NEED to be assertive, but you can't dig it out of yourself.

I agree that people get involved with people who have something they lack.

Hendrix's book Getting the Love You Want suggests that one of the purposes of this is to integrate the lacked thing into oneself.

(Usually it isn't lacked so much as repressed.)

In my case, at first I was uncomfortable with the dragon's grouchiness, and then I used him as the "bad cop," and now I am trying to integrate some of it. Because I think I need it in order to create. (Often when I try to create something, I put it aside because it seems too mean or otherwise socially unacceptable.)

Balancing "nice guy" and "selfish bastard" has never been an issue with me. As of the present time they coexist rather peacably and recognize that they need each other. However, I view my emotions with the same trust and relaxed sense of ease as I would view the Diablo Canyon nuclear reactor waste pool during a series of aftershocks. But you are right, you need some of his Darkness, you seem to lack it in sufficient amounts.
