Do feral cats bond together? Did they share that fish when they brought it back, or did the ferrier eat it all?

Sometimes they bond. Since I saw another cat following the ferrier in a few cases, I figure the other cat was at least hopeful of getting some of the fish.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that presaged a cat fight, or if the ferrier would eat first and the others would get the leftovers (which implies dominance) or what.

I think it would depend on a lot of things, like how much food there is, how hungry the cats are, whether the cats are related, whether the cats are the same sex, yada yada

Cat dominance exists but is quite unlike dog and human dominance, from my limited observations of local felines. There seem to be complex rules and habits. For example, my cats will sleep together on the bed during the day, and sleep in separate parts of the bed when the OH and I are sleeping, but in the evening when the OH and I are in bed, before we go to sleep, they will only visit one at a time and take turns. sometimes one leaves if the other arrives, and sometimes one chases the other away - maybe because s/he arrives "too early".

Do they always arrive in the same order?

Was it you who told me that cats form "associations", not packs? That alone implies a LOT of complexity. It's been fascinating watching Nanook with the cats next door, because there are so many of them (six), and they spend so much time over here.
