I'm feeling more out of sorts than usual today. It's nothing specific and I don't particularly want to take up bandwidth whining about it, but I'd love to be distracted by comments about things that are nifty, beautiful, funny, and otherwise happy-making.

Do you have any ideas about what to do with a big bunch of neckties other than abandon them at a thrift store. Would you like some?

Neckties - You might try asking on craftgrrl. Which is quite distracting and fun. (No thanks, I have too much craft stash as it is.)

Rumi - entrees are in the $20-$30 range IIRC. The veggie entree was $19.

I don't think I want the flash game myself (I have lots of game-type distractions, but I can't afford to get sucked into them right now) but maybe some of the other people reading this entry would want it.

I've seen gorgeous skirts made out of neckties. Cut off the smaller flared end, stitch 'em together along the straight part, leave the larger flared end loose for a handkerchief hem. Add a drawstring waistband and you're good to go.

Would you like a bunch for that purpose? Firecat quite understood that i'm passing on a stash. I've created wings and a tail for a wall hanging and do not plan to make the full costume plus the performance piece. (The emotional impetus for the project is ten years past now, and i haven't worked on it in eight years!)

Toni will be here between 4 and 5 to pick me up. After I introduce her to Polly, (my Kromski Polonaise spinning wheel--a Christmas gift) we are heading out to dinner on our way to Stitches. I'll probably see you around :)

Have fun at Stitches! I'm not going - the hotel sold out before I had a chance to sign up for anything, and I didn't want to schlep back and forth from here. I suppose there's a chance I'll go to the market on Friday, though.

BTW I made my hotel reservations several months before the Stitches schedule was released. I am not surprised that they were booked up.

I have an abiding hatred of crowds, so when something gets that popular, I am less likely to make an effort to go to it.

I think I saw Anthony Bourdain at lunch today.

Also, I had a fabulous pastrami sandwich--no mayo in the coleslaw!

And my son told me I'm the best grandparent, because despite the fact that the others ones all live right there in town, they never see the baby, and I show the most interest and talk to them most often. Go me!

I bought the baby this for his first birthday (coming up on April 3).
