If I were dating someone who turned out to be trans and didn't talk about it, I'd sure wonder about what kind of trust level there was between us.

I think this also has to do with whether one tends to start dating people they don't already know well. A friend I know well? I'd already know. Somebody I just met? Not necessarily.
