I am the somewhat dubious owner of a new iPod Touch. Where should I go to get recommendations about apps? The App Store is overwhelming.

I'm partial to http://iphone.appstorm.com as they do fairly thorough reviews, include useful screenshots, and other such stuff.

And yeah, if you have specific stuff in mind, I'm glad to offer suggestions too.

The ones I use *all the time* are:

AwesomeNote: Notepad, lets you group stuff in folders, and has a very lovely interface.
Groceries: for grocery shopping
HomeRoutine: for household chore tracking
Stanza: for reading books on.

Stuff I use a bit less, but when I want it, it's very handy:
StitchMinder: for tracking knitting
CheckPlease: tip and tab division
Packing List: for packing for trips (has default lists, but you can also create your own or edit easily.)

And a range of games.

YNAB and Things (which sync with my desktop versions of both, and are not as much use without them)
