I'm almost coming to the opinion that people who are basically settled in what they are & people who are not are almost two different species, or at least work from such a different basis that what seems natural to one group is often at cross-purposes with what seems natural to the other.

Those in the second group often basically just feel guilty, and having a flaw acknowledged but semi-accepted could actually be very emotionally powerful. And if you feel you're trying to hide a flaw, there is both a relief and a feeling of giving in when it is brought into the open.

One reason I work so hard on being transparent to others and accepting of myself is so I can just go "Yes, and your point?" to any mention of my flaws.
