I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal, if you feel like it.

I met Eric Idle, with Toni (Toni was with me, not Eric), in front of a Haagen Daz in a Columbus, Ohio mall before seeing his Monty Python stage show.

Heh, my nine-year-old likes to say that Eric Idle is his idol.

I have a small piece of paper with a heart drawn on it in crayon taped to the front of my monitor. [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj gave it to me when we were at a restaurant once with [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot and [livejournal.com profile] mtffm - it helps to remind me that I am loved.

I love to ice-skate, even though I'm terrible at it and fall down frequently to bash my head.

i first started taking my dad to cleveland indians baseball games when i won a contest where i voted for rocky colavito as my favorite ballplayer. max alvis won, but the runner-up prize was tickets to a game. i was probably eight and i was *very* proud to be able to treat my dad to a game.

Nest time I'm in Chicago during baseball season, let's go to a Cub game!

I took tap dance lessons when I was 8 and 12.

I performed in my first dance show when I was six. I performed the "Ballon Ballet" (yes, ballet with a ballon) and "Razzmatap" (tap). My grandfather took a great photo of me in the ballet piece and my grandparents gave me the framed shot a couple of years ago.

1. I worked the night shift for years--consequently, I hate crowds. It was so nice being out during the day when everyone else was at work.

2. I have a fairly big scar on my right shoulder from falling down the steps when I was a little kid. I often forget I have it because I can't see it.

2a. I've had stiches three times--once because of surgery, but I've never broken anything (knock on wood).

3. Both my grandfathers were dead long before I came into the world.

4. I am a packrat.

5. I like a nice sip of green olive brine straight outta the jar every once in a while.

6. In addition to starting dance classes when I was three, I also attended drama classes, modeling school and "charm school" before I was 12.

7. Some of the crafty things I can do: sew, knit, crochet, tat, smock, bead, needlepoint, cross stich, embroider, quilt, and make ribbon flowers. The bad thing is, once I learn how to do something I usually move on to the next thing--so I have LOTS of unfinished projects.

8. I perform middle eastern dance for fun and profit.

This is the first of these I saw. Seems like a neat idea.

I've got a half-brother and a former step-brother, but basically grew up an only child of a single mom.

I find being tall to be far more handicap than advantage.

When I was young, my favorite toy was Bengali Tiger, a mechanical tiger of metal with cloth fur over most of its body and a rubber head, which you could make roar and walk with a contol pad attached by wires. I've occasionally searched for one on e-Bay, but the working ones are about $100, and I can't quite bring myself to buy it.

Memes always put me into an existential crisis! Well here are two random things, anyway:

I was just trying to figure out how to make a cloak out of this cool black-with-blue-stars velvet blanket I have -- I guess I'll stop by the fabric store for some accessories on Thursday when I'll be in that area of town.

Of all the telekinetic powers in all the towns in all the world, why does mine seem to be limited to making things fall off shelves in grocery and other stores? I mean, what is the point in *that*?!?!?

My two local sweeties don't just share the same birthday, but were born on the exact same day. And I met them at the same time, as part of the same social group. And yet, neither of them have ever come with me exploring storm drains!

Sometimes I buy beaded necklaces that I see in the store just so that I can take them apart and use the pretty beads for other beadwork.

Despite the fact that I'm generally confident about my acting ability (hell, I've been doing this since I was nine), there comes a point in every play I'm in where I ask myself why the hell I put myself through this torture. Fortunately, I'm familiar enough with the pattern that I recognize it when it starts happening, and can usually avoid too much emotional flagellation. But, jeez, when it happens, it's ... humbling.

I have hundreds of little piece of paper in various and sometimes random places with snippets written on them, maybe one verse to a song i want to write, or just one line, or an idea for a story or essay or poem. So many half-baked ideas!

I am a fan of Gilbert and Sullivan. While I'm not rabid about it, I'm not really up-to-date on my shots either. I have been known to burst into song.

Oh, and I like spinach.

i just rediscovered -- via reading somebody's LJ by way of your friends page :) -- that i once really liked victorian die-cut relief scraps, especially the ones with glitter. i have no idea what happened to my "poesiealbum". now i feel tempted to start a traveling journal of sorts which i'll send to everyone among my friends and friendly acquaintances who wants to participate, and they'll write something in it and embellish the page with art they create themselves or that's particularly meaningful to them.

I have snarls in my hair, which makes me remember my teenage years, when I had perpetual snarls. From the time I was 23 to when I was about 40, I had short hair and no snarls.
